Hejsan!

Not that long ago my folks asked me if I was still taking morning walks. Yep, pretty much every day, even in the rain. It's good to get out of the house. I don't often see that many other people while I'm out though. But the other day I was out and came upon an older gentleman out walking his dog. He said something to me — in Swedish, of course.
So I smiled and said: "Ursäkta mig, kan du tala engelska?"
He switched effortlessly to English and we fell in step with each other. He said he had remarked that it seemed like a spring day today (it was warmer than usual. So we got to talking as we walked closer to the beach. He'd been living in the area for 35 years. We commented on the crazy state of the world. I told him what my family was up to and mentioned that I'm trying to pick up and use Swedish whenever possible.
He told me of a couple — a Swedish woman married to an Englishman — and in 30 years the Englishman never bothered to pick up Swedish. I was aghast. I told him I'd recently met a woman who said it took her a good three years to get comfortable with Swedish. (It was in her third year that she using other than the present tense).
We reached a parting of the ways and I shook hands with him, telling him my name.
    His name was Raymond.
Afterwards I thought: so much for the stereotype of Swedes being aloof to strangers.

Here's one of the roads I commonly walk along. Kinda spooky-looking, eh?

Here's a short video of me emerging from the path behind the badhytter
and approaching the beach.  4 nov 2011

And here's a video of me walking the length of the pier and taking a look
around.  4 nov 2011

Last Saturday evening, I took a late stroll down to the pier...   5 nov 2011

... and took this shot of the contrails disappearing over Falsterbo.   5 nov 2011

Monday was a little foggy. This shot is taken a bit south of the pier. (Closer to Falsterbo.) 7 nov 2011

I walked back to the pier and since it was low tide took a shot of underneath the pier. Oooooh, arty. 7 nov 2011

On Tuesday, Tina went along with me and we were admiring the gnarly,
lichen-covered trees. 8 nov 2011

Here's one of Tina's paintings. I think this one's her favorite (it's mine, too.)

This is one of the three clay tennis courts at the end of Tennisvägen. The nets are down now and the courts are locked up for the winter. 9 nov 2011

This is the tail-end of Storvägen ("big road"). At the end, in the distance there, is the parking lot that lies just before the start of the pier that I'm always
walking out on. 9 nov 2011

Actually saw another human today. If you look in the center of this picture you'll see her backside. (At least I think it's a her.) 9 nov 2011

Here's a shot from this morning, Thursday. The sun broke through this morning. If you look through the gap in the badhytter, you'll see the end of the pier.

And a little more to the left. 10 nov 2011

Tina will probably try to paint this shot. 10 nov 2011

Tina in the dunes. It's a little breezy today. 10 nov 2011

Och så vidare. 10 nov 2011

One of my favorite places. 10 nov 2011

These are the badhytter just north of the Storvägen parking lot. About three-quarters of the way down this path is where I emerged in that first video posted
above. As I took this picture, Tina remarked that this would be impossible to paint. 10 nov 2011
